Someone just told you something personal.
- Ask for a diagnosis.
- Promise confidentiality you can’t keep.
- Forward the email to your own manager.
- Thank them for telling you.
- Ask what they need from you right now.
- Ask whether they want HR or disability management involved, or not.
Call HR or DM when: the disclosure involves accommodation, leave, or anything you don’t have the authority to grant.
